TransEnergy Global Licenses Vanquish Carbon IP
On April 19, 2024, Vanquish Carbon Advisors (“VC”) and TransEnergy Global Pte. Ltd (“TEG”) entered into an international intellectual property licensing agreement of VC’s ICR methodology “Keeping Coal in the Ground.” Since that date TEG has diligently worked to modify, finalize, and approve its International Carbon Registry (“ICR”) methodology “Coal Abatement for the Energy Transition.”
As of November 19, 2025, TÜV NORD issued an opinion that TEG’s “methodology fulfils the criteria… No existing/proposed methodology in any other GHG programme was found to fulfill the required quantification approach. Therefore, the new methodology is being proposed to ICR for approval and registration.”

According to the July 24, 2025 IEA Coal Midyear Report “In 2024, global coal demand increased by 1.5% compared with 2023, reaching a new all-time high of 8.79 Bt. This represents a continuation of the upward trend in coal consumption, albeit at a slower pace than growth rates of 4.4% in 2022 and 2.3% in 2023.
With the joint efforts of VC and TEG reducing economic global coal supplies may now be achievable. “Keeping Coal in The Ground” is becoming a reality!
